Lovers rock legends stage concert for Jamaica’s recovery
As Jamaica continues to recover from the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa, two stalwarts of the UK reggae scene -- Orlando Gittens and Peter Hunnigale -- are turning the power of music into a lifeline of hope.
The pair are spearheading the Giants of Lovers Rock JA Fundraiser Concert, a benefit event scheduled for December 18, 2025 at Indigo at The O2 in Greenwich, London.
The star-studded line-up will feature reggae and lovers rock icons, including Maxi Priest, Carroll Thompson, Sandra Cross, Janet Kay, and Aswad, in a night dedicated to love, unity, and resilience -- all in aid of the island that gave the world this music.
Hurricane Melissa rampage through Jamaica on October 28, displacing thousands of families and ravaged homes, businesses and infrastructure.
Organisers of the concert said funds raised will go towards relief and rebuilding efforts in Jamaica.
"The world has danced, loved, and found comfort in Jamaica's music for decades," says Keith Ferguson, CEO of Ace Connection Ltd, proud partners of the initiative through their brand Party Ace.
"Now it's time for us -- the global community and the diaspora -- to give back. Jamaica has given so much to the world, and our music is the heartbeat that connects us all."
