Farmer held with illegal gun, ammunition

A St Catherine farmer is facing charges of unauthorised possession of a prohibited weapon and ammunition following an incident in his community of Naggo Head, Portmore, on September 5.

He has been identified as 34-year-old Ryan Grant. Reports from the Portmore police are that at 8:35 p.m., the police were patrolling the area when they observed Grant acting in a manner that aroused their suspicion. Upon the approach of the police, Grant ran and the police gave chase. He was quickly apprehended and searched, and one Glock .40 pistol with a magazine containing six 9mm rounds was found on him.

Grant was charged after a question-and-answer session on Monday. His court date is being finalised.
